Saturday, September 21, 2013 – Ottawa Park, Toledo
Take the step and join the team fighting diabetes. Form a team, walk with a friend or be a corporate sponsor. Register at walk.jdrf.org beginning April 1, 2013.
The Northwest Ohio JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes is a 1 or 3.5 mile walk through the scenic grounds of Ottawa Park. The walk route is paved and strollers and wagons are welcome. Dogs are permitted, but must be on a leash at all times.
As a special treat this year a former Pittsburgh Steeler will kick off the Walk! Join us for a meet and greet with Kendall Simmons! Kendall was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2003, one year after entering the NFL.
Radio Disney will once again provide Family Fun throughout the day, including entertainment, music, prizes and activities. Join us for a free hot dog lunch after the walk.
There is no registration fee to participate, however, participants are encouraged to raise pledges to support research vital to finding a cure for T1D. JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes T-Shirts are provided to participants who raise $100 or more.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.; walk at 10:00 a.m., and closing ceremonies at 11:30 a.m.
Free parking is available at the Toledo Hospital North Garage. Shuttle service will be provided.
Remember…we walk rain or shine! For team, volunteer, and general information please call (419) 873-1377 or email@example.com.
Can’t make the Walk? On vacation or have an event planned? Diabetes doesn’t take a vacation, but you should! Register as a virtual Walk Team and we will give a personalized yard sign to display for the Walk. You can support us from afar while enjoying your much deserved vacation!
